How It’s Done

Getting the ball rolling…

Dreaming of getting behind the steering wheel of a European classic but hating the US market prices and poor conditions of New England vehicles? Well, we get it. Fortunately, you’re in the right place to find an alternative with a much more fulfilling route to ownership. Browse our constantly updated inventory until you find the Rover that best meets your expectations. The vehicles from our inventory will ALWAYS be eligible for import by US customs laws and set for state registration. Keep on looking to the right-hand side to see how we make things not-so-scary for the American buyer.

Things to keep in mind…

Normally, people tend to think that importing a car from Europe or Japan comes with a lot of risk. To be fair, there’s reason to think that way if you don’t know the legal aspect of it or think there’s a way around it. If you’re looking to source a EUDM (European Domestic Market) vehicle from our vetted sellers, there are some laws which we must abide to clear customs. This is true for both the vehicle to leave Spain, as well as enter the US

Some requirements include:

  • Vehicle MUST be 25 years or older.

  • Vehicle must have proper documentation for de-registration before export.

  • Proper documentation and legal representation for entry into US

We understand that this can be incredibly stressful and complicated for an American buyer, but you can rest at ease since we will not post a vehicle for sale unless it is 100% eligible for US import.

To further ease the minds of anyone looking at our inventory, we meet and discuss our expectations with every seller with a vehicle posted on our platform. A small seller’s profile is kept on our Vetted Sellers page also so you can be sure to keep any worries of scams far out of mind.

Shipping Method

Arguable the most important step in this whole process, shipping and importing your vehicle can be an extremely stressful idea to think about.

After we connect you to the right seller and vehicle, we make sure to also connect you to a reputable and experienced shipper to handle the transatlantic journey. We utilize Marland Logistics to handle all of our vehicle exports bound for the US. Marland not only books a spot on a vessel, but they also handle deregistration paperwork in Europe and transport of the vehicle from its original location to the port.

Total Costs to expect when purchasing a vehicle on our platform:

  • The price of the vehicle itself; declared directly from the seller themselves (prices will have been translated from euros to dollars already)

  • The price of shipping; completely broken down by Marland Logistics. See Our Official Shipping Provider page for everything they include and why we chose Marland Logistics.

  • Here at EuroRoversDirect, we charge a small fee to keep our platform operating. Similarly to other comparable car-selling platforms like Hemmings or Bring a Trailer, we charge a buyers fee to the price of our vehicles. In our case, it is a 6.5% fee of the selling price. Not only is this a tiny price to pay in comparison to the thousands of dollars in markups that Stateside imports charge, we also view it as the fair price to ask for bridging the gap between the US and Spain for the Land Rover market and bringing peace of mind to every buyer; this includes full proofing the seller ensuring 0 scams, translating all aspects from Spanish to English, providing an experienced shipper directly to you, and most importantly saving you thousands of dollars.
