FAQs

  • As long as the vehicle you’re importing is at least 25-years-old, it is eligible for US import in 49/50 US States (CA is the exemption). Please keep peace of mind knowing that we will never post a vehicle which is ineligible for US import.

  • Usually vehicle shipping vessels leave spanish ports one or twice a month. The transatlantic journey typically takes a couple weeks. We do ask for patience as unexpected delays and fully booked vessels sometimes lead to extra shipping time.

  • The golden rue in importing to the US is the 25-year rule. Vehicles over 25 years old are eligible for import and automatically exempt from the strict EPA and DOT regulations that restrict most imports. Again, we will NEVER post a vehicle on here that is ineligible for US import.

  • The origins of Land Rover Santana are quite simple. Land Rover had contracted Santana Metalurgica (A vehicle manufacturer in Southern Spain) to assemble their vehicles under license in Spain. They literally would ship complete vehicles in crates for Santana to assemble, with the final product carrying the “Land Rover Santana” Badge. These vehicles were identical to any Series Land Rover from the UK and there is even proof of improvement of manufacturing quality and design features while Land Rover was going through tough times/leadership changes back in the UK. After the mid-1980s though, their agreement ended and Santana would continue on to create a couple Land Rover look-a-like models. Essentially, these models had an exterior resembling a D90/D110 but the internals and suspension had little change from the older Series Rovers. This time period is where some US importers have given Santana’s a bad reputation. You can easily find a Santana that someone is trying to pass off as a genuine Land Rover Defender online. We always CLEARLY post each model as either a genuine Land Rover, Land Rover Santana, or Santana here at Bay Colony.

  • For every single vehicle posted here, we will always ensure a detailed description with as much history as we can gather. We will be posting running and driving vehicles always but it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to keep in mind: these vehicles were intended as farm/military equipment. We want to mention this because these vehicles were not built for speed or creature comforts whatsoever. These vehicles are roadworthy but keep in mind they will have a hard time reaching 70mph on I95.
